MONTERREY, Mexico (AFP) - - Mexican Manuel Uribe, the world's fattest man in the 2007 Guinness Book of Records, has married his friend's widow in a televised ceremony the US Discovery Channel dubbed "My Big Fat Mexican Wedding".
Despite shedding 230 kilograms (570 pounds) from 590 kilograms early on this year, Uribe, 43, had to be carried by a crane on his bed, where he has been confined for years, to the makeshift altar at a venue 30 minutes from his home on Sunday.
The ceremony was televised by Discovery as part of a special, exclusive program titled after the 2002 US movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," with other reporters from Japan, Germany and Argentina in tow. No other cameras or cellphones were allowed inside.
"They're married. Now everybody's clapping their hands and congratulating the couple," Monterrey Mayor and wedding witness Cristina Diaz told AFP.
Uribe has been suffering from morbid obesity since 1992. He was gripped by suicidal thoughts until February of this year when he undertook a drastic diet.
He and his wife, Claudia Solis, first met four years ago at the deathbed of a friend of his who weighed 250 kilograms (551 pounds).
The wedding reception had a "low-calorie banquet" with meat, cream of mushroom and buttered vegetables.

okay so i went to catch high school musical 3 today
yes everyone, please get up off the floor
i know youre in shock knowing that i was a major hater of high school musical 2.
it was awful.
and well,
i didnt wanna catch this one either
but my mum dragged me along with her and tiffany
so off we went.
the best part of the whole thing?

sarah and i went simpanging on thursday night after i finished work
and we decided to walk cause we were full
in the end, we walked from simpang all the way till tampines- near safra
then got into seperate cabs
yeah, it was a mini adventure for us
with the cockroaches
and dark alleys
and walking on the road
and a cab driver trying to give us a free lift
but it was worth it

well, its been a week of awfulness.
i feel home sick, eventhough im at home.
unexplainable i guess.
so, ive been on my 430 shift these few days
and ive got midnight shifts up ahead.
yesterday i got SORE EYES.
out of nowhere.
wonderful.
so i had to wear my ugly specs to work.
total unglam-ness.
haha.
i wish i had something interesting to blog about
but basically,
all i can think of and talk about is DANIAL.
